I made a trip up to the Cathedral today to pick up some gifts for the godparents of our youngest child, and as always carried my camera with me. I'm still having some difficulty with interior shots of the nave and stained glass...
... but am having no trouble whatsoever with the exterior shots. It was an absolutely gorgeous day to visit.

I think interior cathedral shots are really challenging because of the lighting situation. There is a technique you can do (with Photoshop, I think) called HDR to do these kinds of shots, but I've never tried it. You take several shots of the same scene with different exposures, an the program melds the shots into one somehow. The results are stunning. Check out some examples here (wish I knew how to embed links):

I should have my own shots of the Catherdal in a couple weeks! I am really excited I haven't been to DC since I was little.
I attended a service there last year (March '06). We were in DC celebrating my mother-in-law's 75th birthday. What a beautiful service.
I love the Cathedral. It's the most European church we have I guess. I love the Naval Academy Chapel as well, though.
Let me know when you get the interior shots figured out!
Your shots of the cathedral are beautiful! My friend and fellow blogger Susan of Visual Voice (google her and you should find her blog) is one of the invited photographers for the cathedral, she has some really unusual and breath-taking images.
I would be honored if you added me to your blogroll. I think it's a great way to link like-minds together!
