The Contrast of Winter

(Yes, a second photoblog post in one day.) What a contrast a few hours makes; winter had finally arrived in Northern Virginia after some continuing unseasonably warm weather (in the 60s yesterday), and I took the picture above in mid-afternoon. After a few hours of working in my home office, however, I stepped outside to find this second glimpse of winter -- with a tad more brighteness in it.....

Wow, the reds and blues in the bottom photo are gorgeous. I do love a good sunset.

It is amzing how fast a sky can change from grey to almost looking on fire. I love the before and after views!

There's just something about trees against the sky in winter. You notice the strength and stalwartness of the tree, I think, and also can see the sky. I really like both these. Beautiful cotton candy sky in the bottom one.

Wow that is truly amazing! And I see we were thinking the same thing yesterday. I took a twilight photo with branches against the sky too. Such beauty. I've fallen in love with the midwestern skies.
